Buy books

I’ve always loved books and the windows they give into new worlds. And when I started as a trainee waiter and learning about wine, there wasn’t all that much on the internet – so books were the thing.

Even though there’s more online than ever these days, reading the works of great authors whisks you away into the amazing landscapes and cultures of a region.

But you’ll have to seek them out. Most of these books are out of print classics. Pre-loved editions that should be in the hands of people who are on the path, learning to love wine. And I reckon second hand is where it’s at. It allows me to indulge my love for garage sales and church fetes. All in the hopes of some serendipitous discovery.

Books like these shaped my path, so I collect copies whenever I see them.

Of course, with the passing of time, sometimes little bits of information may have changed.  But the sense and feeling books like these give the reader, offer wisdom and storytelling far beyond the facts. Their writing imparts culture, passion, insight and enthusiasm for their topic.

That’s why they’re classics.  After all, if up to the minute data is all you’re seeking, that’s available online.

My wish is that by investing your time in reading one, their words might bend your path too.
